Super Smash Bros. The series made by Nintendo and Sega that surpassed even the Street Fighter series. The first in the series, Super Smash Bros., was a SMASH hit! Get it? Oh well.
So anyway, Super Smash Bros. was released on the Nintendo 64 in 1999 and sold a total of over 4.9 million copies, with 2.93 million sold in the US and 1.97 million sold in Japan. Then Super Smash Bros. Melee came out for the Nintendo GameCube in 2002 and sold 7 million copies worldwide. This game was so popular because it now included more characters, and inevitably, multiplayer. SSBM now included 4-player action! Then came the current game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Released for the Nintendo Wii in 2008, this game was a bigger hit than its predecessors and sold a total of 10.79 million copies! Having more than 16 new characters, and a new, better way to go solo in the Subspace Emissary (SSE), this game was sure to be the best of the best for Nintendo's massive franchise.
Now we have the newest game, Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U. As of now, the 3DS version has sold over 2.8 million copies to date, and the Wii U version has sold over 500,000 copies as it was released a month after SSB4 3DS. They each have a variety of game modes, with some being exclusive to its own version, or used in both. There is obviously a 'Smash' option, but key mini-games include:
For the 3DS:
- Classic Mode
- Training Mode
- All-Star Mode
And lots more!
